Julia Roberts has denied having any kind of plastic surgery except for Botox which, according to many, does not qualify as surgery as it is not an invasive procedure. The Pretty Woman actress said that she had no judgments of anyone who chose to go under the knife. Julia Roberts believes that she has taken a risk by not getting plastic surgery (facelift) according to Hollywood standards.
Having established herself as America’s Sweetheart when she headlined the romantic comedy Pretty Woman in 1990, Julia Roberts has now reached icon status in Hollywood after more than three decades of starting out as an actress. Her films have collectively grossed over $3.9 billion globally, making her one of the most bankable stars of Hollywood. She has done films of a variety of genres and has received multiple accolades for her performances, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, and three Golden Globe Awards.
Not only is she a critically and commercially successful actress, but she is also one of the most beautiful of the lot. Despite being in her new fifties, she could easily give tough competition to the new girls out there because she is just that gorgeous. Julia Roberts’ Plastic Surgery: The Actress Thinks She Has Taken a Risk By Not Getting Work Done on Her Face!
Though Julia Roberts (@juliaroberts) has categorically denied having plastic surgery with the exception of Botox (she does not consider it surgery), people still believe that she has had a nose job and breast augmentation.
It literally is like Julia Roberts’ face has been frozen in time ever since she became America’s Sweetheart in the 1990s when she won over audiences with Pretty Woman because it’s been more than three decades since then but she has barely aged. Like the titular character of the movie, she was pretty then and she is a stunner even now in her mid-fifties. But how come she got only a few lines and wrinkles on her face in thirty years? People are bound to suspect she had plastic surgery.
But the Notting Hill star has always denied having plastic surgery from ages ago. Even like a decade ago, in the 2010s, she was saying that she wanted to grow into her face before she considered getting work done. She said that she wanted to see what a more mature version of her looked like before she thought about changing it. She confessed in an interview with Elle,
It’s unfortunate that we live in such a panicked, dysmorphic society where women don’t even give themselves a chance to see what they’ll look like as older persons. I want to have some idea of what I’ll look like before I start cleaning the slates. I want my kids to know when I’m pissed, when I’m happy, and when I’m confounded. Your face tells a story … and it shouldn’t be a story about your drive to the doctor’s office.
As it turned out, Julia Roberts did not like that the more mature version of her included a few lines and wrinkles so, she drove to the doctor’s office to get Botox injected into her face but she didn’t like that story her face told after getting the anti-wrinkle treatment so, she didn’t keep up with the procedures. In 2012, in a conversation with Access Online,
I tried the Botox one time and was permanently surprised for a couple [of] months. It was not a cute look for me.
However, this time, Julia Roberts made sure to point out that she had no judgments for other celebrities who chose to have plastic surgery. She told the outlet that she didn’t want to judge somebody who can’t turn their head or move their lips or who wanted their chin on their forehead. She said that if that brought them joy and it worked for them, she didn’t begrudge that.
The Erin Brokovich actress didn’t need to begrudge anyone for plastic surgery because her beauty never faded with age and she didn’t have to jump through surgical hoops to retain her youth as she hardly aged. We can see her pull in how she is still a global brand ambassador for the beauty and fragrance products of Lancome in 2022 when she had been with them since 2009. These corporates really don’t mess around and if they thought they were going to take a hit by having her as an ambassador, they would drop her like a hot potato.
In 2014, Julia Roberts talked about how she had not gotten a facelift and in not doing so, had taken a risk by Hollywood standards. She also said that Lancome, the French cosmetics company would have to accept her as she aged. They have but I don’t think she has aged, at least how most people age. She has aged like wine. She looks better now than ever.
By Hollywood standards, I guess I’ve already taken a big risk in not having had a facelift. But I’ve told Lancôme that I want to be an aging model, so they have to keep me for at least five more years until I’m over 50.
Despite these outright claims and (do I detect a hint of pretentiousness) about not getting plastic surgery, people believe that Julia Roberts has had a nose job and some believe that she has had a breast augmentation as well. A lot argue that she has had lip fillers as well because how could she not lose the plumpness of it till now?
