Mindy Kaling recently opened up about her weight loss and how she went on about it. The Office alum revealed that she successfully lost her baby weight about two years ago without restrictive dieting. Mindy confessed that she had been more relaxed about her recent weight loss than the first time around because it was in the midst of a pandemic and she had no engagements. Capitalizing on the hype Mindy got from The Office, she created, produced, and starred in the Fox comedy series The Mindy Project and got even wider attention. She has also created the NBC sitcom Champions in which she made an appearance in five episodes, the Hulu miniseries Four Weddings and a Funeral, the Netflix comedy-drama series Never Have I Ever, and the HBO Max comedy-drama series The Sex Lives of College Girls.

Mindy Kaling also has done voiceover work in animated movies like Despicable Me, Wreck-It Ralph, and Inside Out. She has also made appearances in comedy movies such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, No Strings Attached, The Five-Year Engagement, The Night Before, A Wrinkle in Time and Ocean’s 8, and Late Night.

If you take a look at Mindy Kaling‘s Instagram page (@mindykaling), you can notice that she has been, as of late, posting more and more pictures that could very well be thirst traps. In body-hugging dresses with strategic cutouts and slits, The Office star has been showing off her body in ensembles that highlight her weight loss and owning everything with confidence.

The latest thirst trap she posted was a racy number in which the actress was rocking a one-shouldered ribbed bodycon dress with a daring side slit that went up to her hip. Her sensational figure that she puts on display has raised questions about her weight loss, and how she went on about it. After all, it has not been even two years since she gave birth to her second child in September 2020.

If you have been wondering about that, then you are in luck because, in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, The Mindy Project actress has shared everything about her weight loss (and it’s not surgery).

One thing that stands out the most among all the stuff Mindy Kaling said she’s done for weight loss is that she didn’t change much of her diet intake, which is to say there was nothing much she did differently in order to shed the baby weight she carried after she birthed her son Spencer.

The creator of Never Have I Ever shared that any kind of restrictive diet that she has done has never really worked for her. So, instead of putting herself through such diets, Mindy just ate whatever she liked to eat, just less of it. There is nothing more juicy or dynamic about the way Kaling has lost her weight. She just did it without dieting much and without changing much in the meals she usually has.

This way of weight loss was, however, not only distinct from how other people do it but also differed from how Mindy Kaling shed weight post her first pregnancy with her daughter Katherine, who she gave birth to in 2018. The comedienne revealed that the circumstances surrounding her recent weight loss were a contrast to the last one she went through.

The Sex Lives of College Girls producer was under much stress to be losing her pregnancy weight back then. She was due to shoot for a movie two months after birth and as she says, she was very much like, ‘Just give me grilled salmon and sautéed spinach. I’m going to eat that for three months.’ Maybe it was the preoccupation with her weight at that time or maybe not, but Mindy felt really scrutinized during her first pregnancy.

Whereas after she gave birth for the second time during the Covid-19 pandemic, Mindy Kaling was very relaxed about her weight as there were no pressures as before to trim her baby weight immediately. The second time, for her, was almost like extended maternity leave. Because it was the pandemic, the studios were shut down and she wasn’t going to be on camera soon.

The Champions creator confessed that it was such a joy to spend the last seven months of my pregnancy under the cover of just nobody was out, nobody was taking photos.
