You might have noticed that Tina Turner (@tinaturner) has a very prominent scar on her right arm. The marks just below her shoulder, according to many fans, look like burn marks. But they cannot be sure about that which is why they are curious to know how she got it and if she was ever burned that might have resulted in that scarring.

In her 1986 autobiography I, Tina, Tina Turner wrote in detail about the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of her husband when they were married. One particular instance of her getting physically assaulted by her then-husband was when he threw hot coffee in her face. The excerpt reads,

He threw hot coffee in my face, giving me third-degree burns.

Many people who have read her autobiography speculated that the scar on her right arm might have been due to the third-degree burns that were inflicted on her cruelly by her former husband. As they say, that scar looks painful. But are they right in their speculations because some argue that the mark looks like discoloration only? Also, Tina Turner has never mentioned getting any kind of marks on her arm from burns.

What’s The Scar on Tina Turner’s Arm? More About Her Port Wine Stain!

Though the scar on her right arm has drawn a lot of attention over time and sparked curiosity regarding whether or not it might have been caused by the burns she received at her former husband’s hand, Tina Turner has never addressed those speculations. It did not ever look as though she consciously tried to cover it or as though she was openly flaunting it. The markings seemed insignificant to her. If it was the remnants of abuse, she might not have been that way.

Also, though Tina Turner has not said much about that scar and how she got it, some fans have gathered that it might be port wine stain after all. Port wine stain has been described as a birthmark in which swollen blood vessels create a reddish-purplish discoloration of the skin. The description is apt for the markings on the singer’s body. So, it might not have been the third-degree burns after all. It might have been a birthmark all along and some fans may have gone too far with their speculations about it being due to the burns.

Because though third-degree burns are likely to cause scars on people’s skin, they fade over time, and in case of Tina Turner, it has always been that way. Shouldn’t it have faded if it was because of the burn? Besides, if you remember correctly, she never mentioned having any marks on her arm because of that but she did claim that the burns from the coffee were on her face and neck and apparently, she got no scar from that.
