The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window was filmed in a private residence of Angelino Heights, which is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, located a few miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Many fans wonder about the filming location of the house in the Netflix show.
If you are bored of comedies, and if you are tired of the too serious crime drama, Netflix has brought something new for you - not a comedy and not a crime drama, but a dark comedy thriller The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.
It was originally titled The Woman in the House by the way. Maybe the makers of the show Rachel Ramras, Hugh Davidson, and Larry Dorf needed to make it more as much as our mouths can hold.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window follows a depressed and divorced woman Anna try to solve the murder she happened to witness of the girl through the window. Oh, and there's also a hilariously changing tombstone!
The show stars Kristen Bell, Michael Ealy, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Cameron Britton, and Samsara Yett. It premiered on January 28, 2022, on Netflix.
Where was The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window Filmed?
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window revolves around a divorced painter who witnesses a murder happening through the window across the street.
Most the viewers see on the screen are the home and the street that the titular woman lives in. The series is set in a relatively peaceful suburban neighborhood.
The makers of the show chose to film the drama set in the suburbs, in the bustling city of Los Angeles in Southern California. To be more specific, the show was shot at a private property in Angelino Heights. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city located a few miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
The neighborhood on The Woman in the House is particularly noted for the buildings and residences designed using architectural styles from the Turn of the Century, Revival, and Victorian eras.
It seems like a perfect spot to emulate cozy aesthetic suburban areas from a filming point of view. So we can see why scenes involving Anna’s house and the neighborhood were filmed in this part of LA.
Angelino Heights has hosted a number of filming crews for several projects. Many movies and television shows have been lensed here. It has also served as the filming location for Michael Jackson's iconic Thriller music video.
Chinatown was filmed in Angelino Heights, and one of the neighborhood's Victorian houses was used as the exterior shot of the Haliwell house for the original Charmed series.
The Possible Follow-up to The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window ended all worked out with the killer being caught. However, the creators of the series left it open to return for another season with another murder mystery by setting up a kill.
At the end of the show, Anna is no longer the washed-up painter. She is no longer a depressed and hallucinating woman with no sense of purpose in life. Anna Whittaker is now a woman who solved a murder nobody could and doing so, she found herself and found a new reason to look forward to in life in Douglas.
The end scene of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window takes a leap of one year. We see Anna on a plane to New York to visit Sloane. And then we see Glenn Close sitting next to her flying to New York too.
But we don't get to see Kristen and Glenn chatting away as before that could happen, Anna finds Glenn (the character she plays) dead in the airplane bathroom cubicle.
Anna then alerts one of the flight attendants about the apparently dead woman in the bathroom only for the dead body to vanish in thin air. Could she still be hallucinating?
If something were to happen and they don't go through with making the second season, this is how we will placate ourselves. Yes, Anna is in a much better place now but she is still hallucinating.
But looks like we don't have to do that for she finds the dead woman's compact in her airplane seat. The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window ends with her finding that compact and saying Bingo. Seems like she is all set to get to the bottom of the murder of that woman.
We are also looking forward to another murder mystery. Except for this time, it won't be The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, it will be more like The Woman in the Plane to New York in the seat adjacent to the woman (dead and then disappeared in the bathroom).
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window is streaming on Netflix.
