Phil Donahue is one of the most influential and progressive and loved talk show hosts in America. He has rightfully been dubbed the “king of daytime talk shows.” He was ranked #42 on TV Guide’s 50 Greatest TV Stars of All Time in 1996 and he essentially deserved that spot because he gave a platform to the audience that called for open discussion which was refreshing during the time when people mostly toed the lines when it came to any social issues.
He created and hosted The Phil Donahue Show in 1967 which was the first talk show with a format that included audience participation. How he focused on and dealt with issues like war issues, abortion, civil rights, and consumer protection, which divide conservatives and liberals in the United States, with an open mind was very impressive and insightful. No wonder it had a successful run for 29 years till 1996. He is very charismatic and he was very appreciated for his way of expressing his views even on that talk show on MSNBC he hosted briefly from July 2002 to March 2003. Remember when Oprah Winfrey said, “If it weren’t for Phil Donahue, there would never have been an Oprah Show.” He was sort of a trailblazer in that regard and was kind of revolutionary in the world of talk shows. He is legendary and he has inspired generations of people and his career could be studied. But these days, there are many followers who want to know if he has had plastic surgery. Let’s entertain that curiosity though!
It’s very curious to see people discussing whether or not Phil Donahue has gone under the knife because what even made them think so in the first place? I mean, I get it, he’s a public figure and all, and the general public always has some sort of unvested interest in their personal life. But doesn’t it require something to spark such speculations? Like if someone looks too great and glowing, or if someone looks too (suspiciously) young for their age, or if someone looks too weird and unnatural. How else would we be able to get hints of plastic surgery otherwise?
In the case of Phil Donahue, none of the above three things applies. He does not look spell-bindingly great, he most certainly does not look very young for his age, and he definitely does not look botched and weird. He just looks like a regular guy in his late eighties. Also, another angle that can be considered which will make the discussion and curiosity regarding his plastic surgery seem even more ridiculous is that he is an old man who is not even in showbiz, which is not really a demographic that faces the pressure of keeping up with the beauty standards.

So, he does not look young for his age, he does not look young at all. He does not look botched and weird. Then what makes people entertain the idea that he might have gotten cosmetic treatments? Especially when he is a man who was never a part of the glamor industry, even in his youth, he never placed much importance on his looks, and he precedes the era when plastic surgery took over. It does not make any sense that he would go under the knife to “fix” his looks.
Even if Phil Donahue had developed some sort of crisis as he got older, I don’t know that he would opt for cosmetic procedures because wouldn’t he just learn from the cosmetic surgery mishap that happened with his wife Marlo Thomas? You have seen her? I really don’t want to say it but to give you an idea of what she is like now, she looks like a freak. Completely plastic and alien-ish. Very scary and rubbery. Plastic surgery ruined her looks. Phil can’t want the same for him, right? That’s why I can’t think of him ever thinking of getting cosmetic treatments.
However, would he really think that way? There’s a chance that he is open to getting anti-aging treatments and has considered experimenting with them. What are his views and opinions on cosmetic procedures after all? That we don’t know because he has not told us. So, if it turns out that Phil Donahue is keen on trying plastic surgery, maybe he will get it in the future. Whether he will share it or not is a whole other thing.
